A Heartfelt Journey My visit to Sagg Eco Village was a heartfelt journey into the essence of sustainable living. The wonderful team welcomed us with delightful drinks, setting the stage for what was to become an enriching experience. The highlight of our tour was Mr. Nawaz, whose talent as a storyteller brought the village's practices and philosophies to life. His knowledge of natural farming, organic composting, and sustainable living was impressive, but it was his engaging storytelling that made the knowledge stick. What sets Sagg Eco Village apart isn't just its commitment to ecological principles—it's the people. In many places, the creators and visionaries remain behind the scenes, but here, they engage with visitors, adding a personal touch that’s rare and invaluable. Ms. Lubna Rafiqi, the Executive Director, exemplified this beautifully. While we were asking questions out of curiosity, she took the time to join us, share her philosophy, and discuss the village's vision. Her warmth was infectious, and meeting her was as enriching as it was inspiring. It's one thing to find destinations that educate and another to find ones that inspire. Sagg Eco Village does both, thanks to its dedicated team. I left with a sense of connection not only to the place but to its people, who are the true embodiment of the village's ethos. This is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience sustainability in action and to meet the change-makers who are making a difference.

The real local Kashmir experience Best place to explore nature, village life and have open conversations with the locals of Kashmir. Lovely ambience, and awesome food. The rooms are cosy. The kitchen and dining with the traditional cooking vessels were an amazing experience. The farm has many local veggies and even saffron, giving a good learning experience for the family. The place also has a library with good collection of reading books, magazines and papers. Lubna, Shaheen and the staff make sure the stay becomes a memorable experience for life, and the team becomes a family forever

Inspiring, educational and soothing Beautiful day visit to the sagg eco village - learned so much about sustainability, Kashmiri heritage and social transformation. The site is absolutely gorgeous, and so thoughtfully maintained and decorated at every turn. Available for retreats, long and short stays, as base camp for nearby hikes, or also for day visits, special meals, events they frequently put on. I will definitely be back for overnight visits and for a writing retreat - it is a perfectly calm, refreshing and inspiring atmosphere. Kudos to the Sagg team for their visionary work!

First trip to srinagar with family Everyone has heard so much about Srinagar and hence the expectations. Myself and my wife wanted a place where we would be able to relax mentally and kids who had been indoors for an year wanted to have a fun filled vacation where they could play, read, eat what they wanted all day long. Most of the times I had found it very difficult to match both expectations at our choice of stay. But Sagg Eco Village - SEC, did all that and beyond. SEC has been made so tastefully over the last 6-7 years, reaching to a point where it is ready to host people who want an environment which is inclusive, sustainable and traditional. Inclusive as Sagg has created a family of people who work there (they all belong to Ganderbal) and they make you a part of them as soon as you reach. Then during the course of the days that we spent there, 5 nights, we ate together , we cooked together, we shared bathrooms, we laughed together, we played together, we cleaned together. Traditional as the entire architecture is made of wood and mud, and hence keeps the place warm, asthetically pleasing and a nest for birds. It's like birds were also a part of our family and they had no fear coming near us. Food is not stored and made fresh for every meal. No junk food for kids Sustainable as a lot of things are made and grown at the SEC itself or procured locally withing a 2km radius. Soaps/honey/ vegetables/pickles and a lot of other stuff is made inside the SEC. There is a bio-chemist also in the team who has made sure that no chemicals are used in any of these products. Kids had a great experience watching her make soap and pack pickle. With each trip myself and my wife's expectation is to be able to clear the clutter in our minds which we have collected over the last few months by working continuously and this time corona had added it's bit to it and we mark a trip as complete if we are successfully able to do so. SAG has created an environment which ensured that we were able to clear our minds during the course of the trip and as I write this I still feel so light in the head, for which I would ever be so thankful. Kids played, learnt making things, read, cleaned dishes, helped cook and explored all day as they found something interesting to do each day, be it jumping on the trampoline or playing/reading in the cheche hall. I think a trip marked complete if it helps you achieve whatever you had desired for and for us we got it all and more. Thanks for the SEC family for such a wonderful experience. Kids have already blocked their calender for summers when SEC is planning a summer camp and my wife wants to drop them for the same and plan a road trip to Leh
